Apart from cosmetic surgery, the new Toyota Altis is due to shortly hit the Indian roads with additional improvements. In terms of its external looks, the headlamps have been re-worked on, the side mirrors now carry the turn indicators and the rear bumper has been awarded with stronger grooves and a more sculpted shape. The rear tail-lights look more distinctive and there is a wider chrome strip present just above its number plate.
As for its interior changes, the car comes with perforated leather seats, darker dashboard and a touch screen DVD/Media player. Toyota has also made changes to the engine, and the new engine feels smoother. The car comes loaded with an all-new six-speed manual gearbox and also offers a seven-speed CVT- i (for intelligent constantly variable transmission). The improved powertrain and a much smoother engine gives the new improved Altis a better efficiency. The car is priced between Rs. 13.7-14.7 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
