Tata Motors posts 28 percent decline in October 2013 sales

Indian car manufacturer Tata Motors has posted a sales decline of 28 percent in the month of October 2013 selling a total of 51,638 units in comparison to a total of 71,771 units sold by the carmaker in the same month in 2012.

The domestic sales of the carmaker fell 33 percent with 14,133 units sold in the month compared with 21,119 units sold in the October 2012. The exports of the carmaker rose by 29.95 percent with sales of 4,712 units in October 2013 in comparison to 3,626 units sold in the same month in 2012. Sales in the commercial vehicle segment of the automaker fell 30.26 percent with sales of 32,793 units, down from 47,026 units in the same period in 2012.

Tata Motors like most of the carmakers in India has witnessed slow or negative growth in sales in the month of October 2013. The decline in sales comes despite the festival season in the month when carmakers expected a boost in sales.
