Indian automobile manufacturer Tata Motors has announced a price reduction of Rs 23,000 on its compact car Indica eV2 along with a revamped version of the car model. The price reduction by the company comes at a time when most carmakers in India are increasing prices across their product portfolio to counter rising input costs.
The base variant of the Indica eV2 is now available at Rs 4,01,162 (Ex-showroom Delhi) while the top end variant will now be priced at Rs 4,87,619 (Ex-showroom Delhi). The car has been claimed by the automaker to have a fuel efficiency of 25 kilometers per liter. The Indica eV2 is equipped with a 1,396 cc common rail diesel engine and an MPFI petrol engine as an option for interested customers.
Among the changes in the car are new exteriors with new headlamps, integrated stop lamp with new bumper and alloy wheels.
Other carmakers in India such as Maruti Suzuki, Honda and General Motors have raised car prices in order to offset high input costs and currency fluctuations instead of reducing prices.
