SkodaAuto India, a fully owned subsidiary of Skoda Auto a.s., Czech Republic and one of the most promising automobile companies in India, today announced a growth of 12.75% for September ’11 over the same period last year. SkodaAuto India’s total sales for September’11 stood at 1654 units against 1467 units for September ’10.
Mr. Thomas Kuehl, Board Member, Sales and Marketing, SkodaAuto India said, “Despite tough market conditions we have managed to maintain a healthy growth rate. We have recently launched the Laura RS which was targeted at auto enthusiasts. We have also introduced 2 more variants in the Fabia and given our customer a chance to upgrade with factory fitting in the Plus variants. We are committed to providing value offerings and will strive for further growth in the coming months.”
The Czech auto major is aiming to double its sales globally by 2018 to at least 1.5 million units. Skoda is looking towards the Indian market to contribute a considerable share percentage to their global sales figures.
Skoda is emerging as a strong global automobile player in its segments and has introduced Skoda Laura RS – it’s much awaited Rally Sports model this month. SkodaAuto will also introduce its first global entry level sedan in India by end of this year. It is a compact limousine designed especially to cater the requirements of the Indian market.
Skoda is working on their dealership network and after-sales service to enhance customer experience while reaching out to a larger section of customers across the country. The company currently has 81 showrooms across India.
The Skoda Prize, a renowned property owned by SkodaAuto India has shortlisted its top 20 finalists lately. It is also reaching out to the art connoisseurs in the tier II cities to promote the Indian Contemporary art.
