Skoda India increases prices by 1.8 percent on its car range

Skoda Auto India, the Indian subsidiary of the Czech automobile manufacturer Skoda Auto has increased prices on its car range in India by up to 1.8 percent. The increase in prices is in response to the high input costs and devaluation of the Indian rupee resulting in higher import costs for the company.

The price hike is in the range of 1-1.8 percent and will be effective from August 2012. The company stated that it had to revise the prices to keep up with the increase in input costs and the fluctuations in the value of Indian rupee.

The Czech automaker posted a two-fold growth in sales in the month of June 2012 selling 4,923 units in comparison to 2,610 units sold in the same month in 2011. The price range of Skoda Auto India begins from Rs 4,46,000 (Ex-showroom, Delhi) with the Fabia hatchback and reaches up to Rs 24,00,000 (Ex-showroom, Delhi) with the Superb premium sedan.
