Skoda India, the Indian arm of the Czech automobile manufacturer Skoda has stopped the production of the Laura premium sedan and discontinued the sale of the same. The car model has also been removed from the company’s official website which indicates that it’s been phased out from the Indian car market.
The Czech carmaker has cleared the existing stocks of the Laura sedan and doesn’t intend to manufacture anymore of the same for the Indian market. The move to phase out the Laura comes after the launch of the new generation Octavia in India. It is expected that the phasing out of the Laura will make way for better sales of the new Octavia premium sedan.
The Laura was equipped with a 2-litre TDI turbo diesel motor and a 1.8-litre TSI turbo petrol engine alternatively. While the entry level price for the premium car was Rs 14,55,000, the high end variant of the car was priced at Rs 19,27,000.
