Skoda delivers 5,23,200 vehicles worldwide by July 2011

Skoda delivered 5,23,200 vehicles worldwide in the first seven months of 2011. This represents a 19.7 percent increase in its sales, when compared to the same period in 2010. The company reported record sales of 68,500 units for the month of July 2011 and for the first time ever delivered over 5,00,000 vehicles in the first seven months in the year 2011.

On the domestic front, the Czech carmaker witnessed an increase of 9.6 percent in its sales for the month of July 2011 in comparison to the same month last year. The company also saw a growth in its sales for the month of July in other countries such as Ukraine, where the sales rose by 54.8 percent; Slovenia, where the sales rose by 9.3 percent; Poland, where the sales grew by 3.7 percent and Croatia where the sales grew by 4.0 percent.

Jurgen Stackmann, Skoda Board member for Sales and Marketing, commented that Skoda remains in the fast lane and that regions such as China, India, and even Russia reported significant growth in July 2011. In China, Skoda’s deliveries increased 15.4 percent in July 2011. In Russia, Skoda achieved its third best monthly result with 6,100 deliveries, representing an increase of 22.7 percent. In India, Skoda’s sales improved by 70.1 percent in comparison to the last year’s sales.

The company continues to record strong sales in the established markets of Western and Eastern Europe. Netherlands and Austria also reported increase in the sales by 53.2 percent and 36.8 percent respectively. In Belgium, France and Switzerland, Skoda’s sales rose 23.8 percent, 22.6 percent and 13.2 percent respectively.
