Skoda India which currently sells luxury sedan Superb will bring its successor, The New Superb, in India in 2009. The New Superb will be launched in Europe in October 2008.
It will come to India as a part of a well thought out strategy of Skoda India who wants to strengthen its standing in the D plus segment which is currently owned by Mercedes Benz, BMW and Audi.
Mr Kuehl, Member Board of Directors, Skoda India said “We are placing it on the same lines of the Superb”.
The Superb is currently priced Rs 19.89 lakhs and is available in both and diesel variants. Skoda sold 600 Superb cars in India last year.
Skoda currently sells its super hatchback Fabia, sedans Laura and Octavia along with Superb in India.
Mr Kuehl said that Skoda plans to launch a new car in India every year. “This will be either the successor of an existing model or a completely new car,” he said.
