Skoda Auto India is in the process of investing more than Rs 300 crore in its manufacturing operations in order to increase production and implement localization. The company is banking on its sales in India to drive its global sales target of 15,00,000 units sales by the year 2018.
The company has made changes in its management structure in order to prepare it for its future growth plans and the related cross functional tasks. Stating the Indian auto market to be the company’s primary strategic pillar in its growth strategy, Mr. Juergen Stackmann Skoda Auto Board Member Head (Sales and Marketing) added that the new management structure can also be applied in other major markets to manage growth and expansion.
Among the changes made in the management of the company, the creation of the post of managing director has been the most prominent one apart from the posts of Sales Head and Marketing Head. Mr. Sudhir Rao has taken up the role of the new managing director of the company while Mr. Kamal Basu and Mr. Ashish Deshpande now hold the position of Marketing Head and Sales Head respectively.
