Shelby’s next Super Car will probably be faster than the Bugatti Veyron

The battle for the world’s fastest super car is always an interesting one. It’s a roaring competition between various manufacturers to try and best the Veyron’s top speed of 428kmph. Currently the closest contenders are the Koenigsegg Agera with 420kmph and Shelby’s Ultimate Aero with 415kmph.

From what we know, the auto industry is constantly changing, and change comes very quickly. Prior to the Bugatti Veyron SS, the Ultimate Aero was the fastest car. Now Shelby is aiming to regain that title of having the fastest super car once again.

Last week the American manufacturer unveiled their latest car – the Tuatara. This mega super car is named after a reptile that lives in New Zealand and which possesses the fastest evolving DNA out of any species on the planet – creating an analogy representing the rapid development of Shelby’s new super car. The Tuatara is made up entirely of carbon fibre, including the chassis and the wheels, which will make the car extremely light. In addition to that, the Tuatara will also feature a massive 7-litre DOHC V8 Twin-turbo engine capable of producing 1300bhp. If all goes well and when testing goes underway, Shelby are estimating that the Tuatara will be able to touch speeds in excess of 430kmph, thus making it the fastest super car in production and bringing the Volkswagen owned Bugatti Veyron down to the ground.

However, Shelby has made it clear that only 12 of these bad-ass machines will be produced for an estimated retail price of $1 million, which is still much less expensive than a Veyron. Interestingly enough, both Bugatti and Koenigsegg are available in the Indian market. But will we see a Shelby any time soon??? Lets hope so.
