The convertible Rolls Royce Dawn has been launched in India for Rs. 6.25 crore and is now available across all five Rolls Royce dealerships in India. The car is based on the baby Rolls Royce Wraith coupe, and Rolls Royce decided to chop the roof off and make it into a convertible. They even decided to redesign the rest of the car slightly to give it its own look and feel. This has given birth to the Rolls Royce Dawn. The Dawn is a new four-seater, super luxury convertible.
The Dawn gets the same 6.6-litre, V12 engine that churns out 570bhp and 780Nm of torque. The engine is mated an 8-speed automatic gearbox that uses satellite technology to sense the road ahead and where the car is heading, and change gears accordingly to deliver a seamless comfortable ride. The suspension has also been revised for the Dawn from the coupe model to accommodate the added weight of the folding roof. To make the car into a convertible, the suspension has been softened while the chassis has been stiffened to provide the trademark Rolls Royce ‘magic carpet’ ride quality.
