Renault India, the Indian subsidiary of the French automobile major Renault is developing a new small car and is planning to launch it in India by the year 2014. The new small car has been codenamed ‘Entry A’ as reported in August 2012 and is equipped with an 800cc engine called ‘B4A’. The engine is claimed to offer a mileage of 20 kilometers per liter.

The new car will compete with the Tata Nano and the Maruti Alto 800 in the small car segment and will be priced at around Rs 2,00,000. The new 4-seater small car has been developed by Renault in collaboration with its global partner Nissan and will be manufactured at Renault’s and Nissan’s joint production facility at Chennai.

Earlier, the small car project was planned to be a joint venture with Bajaj Auto, the Indian three-wheeler and two-wheeler manufacturer. However, the collaboration with Bajaj was scrapped and was later revived by the French automaker.
