The Indian subsidiary of the French automaker Renault has announced its decision to raise the prices on its newly launched sports utility vehicle Duster by up to Rs 40,000 effective October 1, 2012. The move by the company is aimed at offsetting the increase in the cost of raw material and the depreciation of the Indian rupee, stated Mr. Marc Nassif Managing Director Renault India.
The Duster had been launched by Renault India in the month of July 2012 with an entry level price of Rs 7,19,000 (Ex showroom Delhi). The diesel variant had been priced earlier at Rs 7,99,000 (Ex showroom Delhi). After the increment in price, the petrol variant of the Duster SUV will now be priced Rs 30,000 higher than the previous price, while the diesel variant will be priced Rs 40,000 higher.
For the bookings made prior to August 31, 2012, the customers will be charged at the introductory price. The new SUV has witnessed a total 20,000 bookings since its launch, added the statement by the company.
