As the french carmaker Renault announced on 11th of May 2011 that it will launch fine new model in India including compact car between 2011 to 2013, Today start its launch beginning trade with the luxury sedan Fluence in India with both petrol and diesel engine options at priced between Rs 12.99 lakh and Rs 14.40 lakh (ex showroom Delhi).
This is the first Renault branded car to be assembled in India at its Chennai plant and basically the Fluence model specially designed for Asian market.
The Petrol Fluence comes with a 2-litre 4-inline Spark ignition, multipoint injection system with 1997cc displacement that generates 101kW/ 137Ps of maximum power at 6,000rpm and 190Nm of torque at 3700rpm while the diesel Fluence has 1.5-litre 4-inline Direct Injection technology, powered by a 1461cc of Displacement that generates 78kW/ 106Ps of maximum power at 4,000rpm and 240Nm of maximum torque at 2,000rpm.
Nissan has committed an investment of Rs 4,500 crore by 2015 at Chennai facility, which will have a total production capacity of 4 lakh units per annum. The company is currently considering setting up an engine plant at the facility.
After Fluence company will introduce a sports utility vehicle ‘Koleos’ this year, followed by three more car in 2012.
