The Indian arm of the French carmaker Renault has announced its target of achieving 20-fold growth in car sales in the fiscal 2012. The company sold 1,500 units in 2011-12 and plans to sell about 30,000 units by December 2012, stated Mr. Marc Nassif.
Renault entered the Indian market as a solo player in May 2011 and by March 2012 had three cars models in its Indian portfolio including the Fluence premium sedan, the Koleos SUV and the premium hatchback Pulse. The company has plans to add two cars to its portfolio in 2012 one of which is the Duster crossover.
The company plans to increase the number of dealerships from 43 to 100 in 2012 to drive sales and expand its presence in the Indian market.
