The Indian subsidiary of the French carmaker Renault has announced that it will be launching the Duster compact SUV in July 2012 and has already received 1,000 bookings for the new car. The Duster will be the first compact SUV by any global auto manufacturer to be introduced in the Indian market at a price tag of Rs 7,00,000 for the petrol version. The diesel version will be available for Rs 8,00,000-Rs 12,00,000.
The aggressive pricing by the company for the new SUV is aimed at rounding up high sales figures. The new compact SUV will have features that correspond to a full sized SUV but will have a price range similar to a sedan.
Commenting on the upcoming launch of the Duster in July 2012, Mr. Rajiv Mitra Spokesperson Renualt India stated that the SUV is the most aggressive product in the company’s portfolio. He added that with this car model, the company plans to increase its sales in India and establish for itself a strong customer base.
