Skoda launched its first Online Booking Engine initiative for the Rapid sedan on November 28, 2011. Through this service the company expects to cater to its customers online and provide them the option to book the car at their convenience 24×7. The facility also provides the option to track the bookings online with a view to enable transparency.
According to Mr. Thomas Kuehl, Board Member and Director Sales and Marketing, Skoda Auto India, the company has received a huge response through this new online facility. He added that the company expects the internet to become a strong mode of business in coming years. Skoda has based its new initiative on the trend that the customers prefer to register online for products they wish to purchase.
The company received 18 bookings for the Rapid sedan within one hour of the launch of the Online Booking Engine. Skoda also plans to manage its supply chain and dealer demand along with customer demand and expectations through this online booking engine.
The customers have the option to choose various features for the car such as fuel type, color, transmission and dealership and the place of delivery. The tentative date of the delivery is also shared with the customers online. While booking the Skoda Rapid, the customers are required to pay booking fee of Rs. 5,000 through debit/credit card or net banking. Further, the customers are also required to pay a sum of Rs. 45,000 to the dealership within three days of booking the car online to avail non-interrupted services.
