Italian subsidiary firm Fiat India is on the lookout to refresh its current product offering in India along with designing a new brand strategy to boost its sales.
As a part of the strategy, the company will not launch any new models till 2013-14, but would instead consolidate its current range. The company at present has three models in India namely the Punto, the Linea and the Palio Stile. This also implies that the company would not introduce its much hyped small car which was anticipated to hit the Indian roads by early 2012. Fiat India had announced in January 2010 that it was working on a small car to be positioned below Punto and Palio.
Chief executive officer of Fiat India, Mr. Rajeev Kapoor told the Financial Express that the company has no plans to launch a new car until 2013-14. Mr. Kapoor said the company was instead working to refresh the look of the existing products. The company is also working on the lines of bringing in a new brand strategy which would enhance the Italianess of the brand. As a part of the brand strategy and to give the Fiat’s range of cars a new brand identity, the company has already announced its decision to open exclusive dealerships for its products.
