Nissan Sunny Diesel launched

Nissan India has started accepting bookings for the Nissan Sunny Diesel from December 12, 2011. The diesel model of the sedan is available in two variants XL and XV. The diesel option in the Sunny sedan has been introduced 3 months after the company launched the petrol model of the car in September 2011. The new diesel powered sedan comes at a price of Rs 7,98,000 for the XL variant and Rs 8,78,000 for the XV variant.

In terms of fuel efficiency, the sedan powered by the K9K diesel engine offers 21.64 kmpl (ARAI certified). The 1.5 liter, 4-cylinder engine delivers 86PS of power at 3750 rpm and a maximum torque of 200 Nm @ 2000 rpm.

The company hopes to boost its car sales in India and make its presence felt in the sedan sector. The rising demand for diesel cars in India owing to hikes in petrol price is expected to be a significant factor in driving the sales for the new diesel car. Moreover, Nissan India has initiated a new pricing strategy in the industry according to which the new Sunny sedan ex-showroom price will be uniform for all the states in India. The on road price will differ in accordance with the respective VAT, Octroi, Entry Tax and local taxes in each state.
