Nissan states government aid as key to increase green cars in India

Amid the hype of new electric cars and numerous hybrid innovations in the automobile industry, Japanese automobile maker Nissan states that aid from the government is the key to encouraging the use of electric cars in India.

Mr. Toshiyuki Shiga COO Nissan Motor stated that the aid and support from the government is a necessary requirement in order to propel the use of electric or green cars. Commenting on the company’s outlook for the Indian car market, he stated that establishing a strong presence in India is a priority for the carmaker.

The car manufacturer Nissan operates in India through its subsidiary Nissan Motor India.

The debate about government aid has been going on for a long time now and is mainly focused at the lack of infrastructure for the feasibility of using electric cars at a mass level in India. The automakers in India are also demanding that the government should provide tax benefits and exemptions for the production and sale of electric vehicles and their auto parts.
