Nissan India to recall 22,188 units of Micra and Sunny

Nissan India, the Indian subsidiary of the Japanese carmaker Nissan has announced that it will be recalling a total of 22,188 units of the Micra hatchback and the Sunnt sedan collectively due to a reported fault in the braking system.

The recall is part of a global exercise by Nissan to recall cars in order to repair the faulty braking system. The vehicles to be recalled belong to the batches manufactured between June 2012 and March 2013. The carmaker will be recalling a total of 67,089 units of the Micra and the Sunny globally to replace the master brake cylinder.

While there have been no complaints from customers in India, the automaker is voluntarily conducting the recall. According to a company official, the driver of the car may experience longer brake pedal travel under light braking force. As a result, the braking distance required to stop the vehicle may increase.
