Nissan India target 1,00,000 car sales in 2013-14

Japanese automobile manufacturer Nissan’s Indian arm, Nissan India has set a target of selling 1,00,000 car units in the Indian auto market by the end of the fiscal 2013-14. The carmaker plans to power growth and boost sales by launching new car models in India.

The automaker posted sales of 33,000 units in the fiscal 2011-12 and sold a total of 37,000 units in the fiscal 2012-13.

In line with its growth plans, the carmaker has launched a new facelift version of the Micra hatchback as well as a low cost variant of the car model namely the Micra ‘Active’ to lift the consumer sentiment amid sluggish market sales.

The current share of the Japanese company in the Indian car market is 1.5 percent which it plans to expand to 10 percent with the launch of 10 new car models in India by 2016-17. With the new car model launches, the carmaker aims to establish a presence in all the segments of the automobile industry in India.

The automaker is also planning to expand its dealership network from the current 95 dealers to 300 dealerships by the year 2016-17.
