Nissan India signs 10 year agreement with Ennore Port for auto export

Japanese automaker Nissan’s Indian subsidiary, Nissan India has signed an agreement with Ennore Port near Chennai to export a minimum of 60,000 cars annually for 10 years. The agreement allows the carmaker a concession of 0.36 percent per unit exported.

The Japanese automaker will also be provided free parking space for the first 15 days and will also be given priority for handling on the port.

The car manufacturer plans to maintain about 1,00,000 unit exports annually. In the year 2010-11, the automaker exported a total of 54,000 cars which has grown to 98,000 units annually in the year 2012-13. The April-June period (first quarter) in 2013 has witnessed exports of 14,000 units by the company from the Ennore Port.

According to Mr. Kenichiro Yomura Managing Director and Chief Executive Nissan Motor India, the carmaker is currently exporting cars to about 100 nations and targets an average of 1,00,000 unit exports annually.
