Nissan India recalls Micra hatchbacks

Nissan Motors India has announced its decision to recall the Micra hatchback car models which were manufactured in India and exported to European markets in the period between January 25, 2011 and December 29, 2011. This in line with the company’s global recall program which is aimed at fixing a mechanical glitch related to the direct injection engines in order to prevent a fuel leak in extreme conditions.

According to a spokesperson for Nissan Motors India, the number of Micra hatchbacks that would be recalled will be about 9,660. The recall however would not be affecting the domestic car market, states the company.

Nissan Motor Company has plans to recall about 2,50,000 car models across the world to fix the problem that may cause fuel leakage in certain cases. Until now however, there has been no report of any accident or injury due to such a case.
