Nissan India, the Indian arm of the Japanese car manufacturer Nissan has launched the new Terrano compact sports utility vehicle (SUV) in the Indian car market at an entry level price of Rs 9,58,000 (Ex-showroom Chennai).
The new SUV car model will compete with the likes of the EcoSport by Ford, the Duster by Renault and the Quanto by Mahindra. The Japanese carmaker has started accepting bookings for the new entrant at Rs 50,000.
As the Nissan and its global alliance partner Renault share technology as well as production facilities in India, the Terrano features some similarity to the Duster compact SUV. The carmaker has made changes such as new grille, bumpers and lamp assemblies on the exterior in addition to differentiable changes in the interiors to avoid the tag of ‘badge engineering’.
The Teranno shares the same engine specifications as that of the Duster car model, namely the 1.6-litre petrol delivering 104PS of power and 145Nm of torque and the 1.5-litre K9K diesel engine that offers 85PS of power and 200Nm torque or 110PS of power and 248Nm of torque alternately.
