Skoda India has launched its new Fabia Scout, a revamped version of the standard Fabia model at an entry level price of Rs 6,79,000 (Ex-showroom Delhi). It is a semi off-roader version of the Fabia hatchback which was unveiled at the Delhi Auto Expo in January 2012. The Fabia Scout is available in both petrol and diesel version with a 1.2 liter engine that produces 75PS of power and is mated to a 5-speed transmission.
Among the various differences between the Fabia Scout and the standard Fabia model is the scratch resistant protection at the front and the rear bumpers along with protective cladding on the sides in order to enable the Scout to withstand loose gravel and rocks. The suspension has been raised for an improved ground clearance expected to be favored in India due to poor road conditions.
The new car model also features projector headlamps and a stainless steel pedal. On the safety front, the Scout has dual airbags, remote locking and power windows. Other features also include an integrated audio player and tinted glasses all over.
