With a slew of new product launches in the pipeline for BMW, and most of them being smaller car models such as the 1 Series, 3 Series and their Mini vehicles, the German giant has just revealed to the world a brand new 1.5 litre petrol and diesel powered 3-cylinder engines, which are also turbocharged by the way. These engines will also be more efficient than their 4-cylinder power houses and hence will find their way under the hood of the new Mini cars, as well as the all new front-wheel drive cars from BMW, the new 1 series and 3 series, and the much talked about BMW i8 Hybrid supercar.
These new engines follow what BMW is calling ‘BMW future modular engine strategy’. Power outputs of the engines will range from anywhere between 120bhp and 200bhp for the petrol engines, and In the range of 100bhp to 180bhp in the diesel formats.
Indeed, BMW’s future modular engine strategy is well conceptualised. A ready market exists for such engines from BMW.
Good Luck!
