M&M launches Xylo D2 at Rs 6.3 lakh

Mahindra XyloMahindra & Mahindra last week launched the Xylo D2, priced at Rs 6.3 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Equipped with a new 2.5 litre mDI CRDe engine, this latest variant of the Xylo gives a fuel efficiency of 13 km/litre. It boasts of decreased emissions and lower NVH levels, and comes in three colours – gold shimmer, mist silver and fiery black. Mr Vivek Nayer, Senior Vice President (Marketing, Automotive Sector) Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., said that the vehicle’s powerful engine, low maintenance and its continuing value proposition of space and comfort make it ideal for long journeys.

The Xylo D2’s engine complies with the Bharat Stage III emission norms and gives a power output of 95 bhp. It has a five-speed manual gearbox. The vehicle’s engine immobilizer makes it theft-proof, while its surround-cool dual AC ensures a comfortable journey for all passengers.

  1. Mahindra should have made the Xylo engine BS IV compliant. With the new emission norms coming in, many SUV buyers may opt out the Xylo for this reason.

  2. Launching a number of cars will do good for Mahindra. However, the market share they gain with the XYLO wouldn’t last too long as their service is pathetic. Within a month of buying the Xylo I have had issues with the Gear Box, Suspensions and Brakes. Now after 6 months, I have an issue with the rear tyre. My friends at the service center (in bangalore) seem to offer the worst in class customer service . My rear tyre (vehicle being 8 months old) has started developing cracks on the outer wall. When the same was shown to the service folks, to our surprise, we are provided with the feedback that mahindra is not responsible for the tyre and Bridgestone will comment and provide a report on the same. A decision would then be taken. I sometimes wonder that buying a car in parts would be a better option if the customer is faced with issues where one has to wait on feedback from a subvendor.

The icing on the cake for all the Mahindra buyers – the gear box was opened within a period of 3 months and the synchronizer ring was changed to smoothen my gear box problem. I am extremely disappointed with Mahindra and the service. As a customer, I beg to differ to the viewpoint of the President of the M & M automotive division on the claims of Customer Satisfaction made. I am indeed surprised to note that the XYLO has been rated highly and given a 96 percent rating in a recent ranking.

My apologies to drive inside for making this blog irrelevant to the above topic, however I wanted this to be seen and read by most of the prospective Mahindra customers. Let them not be taken aback like we have been after buying a 9.6 lac vehicle.
