Mitsubishi launches Pajero Sport Automatic variant in India

Mitsubishi Motors Corporation launched the new Pajero Sport Automatic variant for the Indian car market on November 15, 2014 at a price of Rs 23,55,000 (Ex-showroom Delhi). The new Pajero Sport car model is now available with both 4×2 automatic transmission and a 4×4 manual transmission, bookings for which have been open since November 05, 2014 across dealerships.

The new Pajero Sport will compete with other premium SUVs in India such as the Toyota Fortuner, the Hyundai Santa Fe, the Chevrolet Captiva and the Ford Endeavour. Ideally suited for city driving conditions, the automatic 4×2 variant offers various new features including the new paddle shifter for quicker acceleration, a unique feature in diesel SUV segment. This new feature enables an acceleration experience comparable to that of a manual transmission.

The new SUV variant offers the following key features:

  • Sports Mode: Increased acceleration with ergonomically designed paddle shifters (Only available in the automatic variant)
  • Newly designed front grille and front bumpers with fog lamps
  • Outer rear view mirror (ORVM) with built-in turn signal lamps
  • Multi-Information Display (MID):  Provides additional information about various vehicle parameters such as average vehicle speed, average fuel consumption, likely driving distance, electronic compass, altitude, outside air temperature and time

Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Automatic transmission

The new Pajero Sport Automatic variant follows the recent launch of the limited edition dual-tone and the Anniversary Edition Pajero Sport in September 2014 and is claimed to be an integral part of Mitsubishi’s ‘New Stage 2016’ strategy aimed at revenue growth in India and other emerging international auto markets by launching new car models and developing new generation technology.

Commenting about the newly launched model, Mr. Uttam Bose Managing Director HMFCL stated, “We expect a quantum leap in our sales with the entry of the all new Pajero Sport and garnering of sizable market share. HMFCL will also focus on expansion of its channel network so as to ensure availability across India.”

Mitsubishi Motors Corporation operates in India through a technical collaboration with Hindustan Motor Finance Corporation Limited (HMFCL) and currently sells only the Pajero Sport premium SUV model in India.
