German luxury automobile manufacturer Mercedes-Benz has announced its decision to open shop in Patna, the capital city of Bihar to cater to the potential clients in the region. According to Ms. Ghazal Javed Corporate Communications Manager Mercedes-Benz, the showroom in Patna will be ready by the end of the year 2012 and will house its luxury car brands the C-Class, the E-Class and the S-Class.
The automaker views the state of Bihar to be a potential market and is banking upon its brand equity to sell its products in the region. Opening up to the Indian car market, Mercedes-Benz has been eyeing the Tier-II and Tier-III cities such as Jabalpur, Kota and Patna and expects 60 percent of its future market to exist in these areas.
Ms. Ghazal added that as India is developing, the luxury car market is also growing in smaller cities and is not exclusive to the metro cities.
