Mercedes-Benz India launches new E-Class

Mercedes-Benz India launched a new version of its luxury sedan, the Mercedes E-Class, this week. Priced at Rs 46.98 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the new E-Class comes with a 3.5 litre V-6 petrol engine.  A diesel variant of the car will follow later.

The German carmaker has so far sold 11,000 units of the E-Class in India. The car’s new version, it is hoped, will help Mercedes take on the increasing competition it faces from BMW and Audi. BMW India sold 2305cars in the first eight months of 2009, as against Mercedes’ 2026 units. The Managing Director and CEO of Mercedes-Benz India, Mr. Wilfried Aulbur, told media persons that the company expected its current year’s sales to be lower than last year’s, but that the situation would improve in 2010.

  1. The Mercedes-Benz E-Class model is jaw-dropping drop-dead gorgeous. The newly launched 2010 E550 is the most beautiful of them all.
