Mercedes-Benz India, the Indian subsidiary of the German luxury automobile manufacturer Mercedes Benz has launched the diesel version of B-Class compact hatchback at Rs 22,60,000 (Ex-showroom Mumbai).
The German carmaker already sells the petrol version of the B-Class hatchback in India which was launched in October 2012 and has sold a total of 500 units of the car model. The automaker expects the diesel version of the car model to outsell the petrol model and to help boost its sales numbers in India.
According to Mr. Eberhard Kern MD & CEO Mercedes-Benz India, customers in India are still inclined to buy a diesel car in comparison to a petrol car. He added that the diesel versions of the car models in Mercedes-Benz portfolio make up for 80 percent of the sales in India while petrol versions constitute the rest 20 percent.
