Mercedes-Benz India, the German luxury auto manufacturer has announced the commencement of operations for its first locally assembled M-Class at the Chakan facility near Pune in addition to the inauguration of the company’s new art paint shop.
The paint shop is a 17,000 square feet unit at the Chakan facility and has been set up by the automaker with an investment of Rs 200 crore. The unit is complete with various features such as environmental friendly painting technology and water-based painting technology.
The CKD (complete knocked down) assembling of the new M-Class will be implemented with 30 percent localization which includes axles and drive-trains to be sourced from the local vendors, states Mr. Piyush Arora Director Technical Mercedes-Benz India.
