Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzires recall 1.5 lakh units in India

Maruti Suzuki will recall 1.5 lakh units of its popular sedan model Swift Dzire due to defect in the neck of the fuel filler and will be affects on those Swift Dzire models which are manufactured between 2013 and 2014 and Maruti will replace the affected part free of charge.

It would be the largest recall in the country by Maruti Suzuki and in the past, an earlier recall of 1,492 vehicles by Maruti in November last year, included the Ertiga, A-Star and Swift models, to rectify the faulty steering column. The largest recall by was happened in February 2010 with 1,00,000 units of the A-Star including export models, to replace a faulty fuel pump gasket.

The other car manufacturers in the past, General Motors has recalled 1,14,000 units of the its MUV Tavera, while Ford India recall combined  1,66,000 units of the its hatchback model Figo and sedan Classic.

The Swift Dzire parts have been supplied by JBM in which Maruti Suzuki itself holds a 29.28 per cent stake. The supplier has already started manufacturing the replacement parts and Maruti will replace these parts absolutely free of cost. Some of the recalled vehicles also stop to sale at Maruti dealer showrooms. An official announcement is expected soon.
