India’s largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India has launched a limited edition of its hatchback car model Swift namely the Swift Alpha at the same price tag as the existing model. The limited edition hatchback is available only with a petrol engine. With the launch of this add-on features Swift, the company expects to boost the sales of the petrol version of the Swift.
The Swift Alpha features a music system with Bluetooth and speakers, door visor, interior style kit, sill guard for doors, rear spoiler, etc. The company has also increased the production of the Swift from 12,000 units to 20,000 units per month resulting in a reduction of 2 months in the waiting period for the hatchback.
The company has witnessed a decline in the sales of the petrol version Swift in 2011-12 which accounted for 20 percent of the total sales, the rest 80 percent being the diesel version due to the cheaper pricing of the diesel fuel in comparison to petrol.
