Maruti Suzuki to recall 1,03,311 car units in India

Maruti Suzuki, the largest car manufacturer in India has announced that it will be recalling 1,03,311 car units. The recall is being implemented in order to replace the ‘fuel filler neck’ across car models namely, the DZire, the Swift and the Ertiga.

The carmaker stated that there is a possibility of a fuel smell and in extreme conditions, some fuel leakage if the fuel tank is filled beyond the cutoff level.

The recall will be implemented by the carmaker through its dealers who will contact the car owners intimating them about the free replacement of the fuel filler neck. Due to the large magnitude of the affected vehicles, the component is already being dispatched by the carmaker to the dealer workshops.

According to the automaker, the problem was noticed in regular quality tests during the manufacturing process.

The car owners can also visit the company website www.marutisuzuki.com to check whether their car belongs to the period of recalled cars. This will be verified through the chassis number which is embossed on the vehicle engine and mentioned in the registration documents as well.
