India’s largest car maker Maruti Suzuki has reported a 9.2 per cent fall in the sales during August this year as compared to the same period last year. In a statement released today, the company said that it sold 59,908 vehicles in the August 2008 as against 65,968 units in the same month of the previous year. The domestic sales have gone down by 10%. The company sold 54,113 vehicles in August 2008 as compared to 60,229 vehicles in August 2007.
The exports have gone up by 1%. The company sold 5,795 vehicles in August 2008 as compared to 5,739 vehicles in August 2007. During the month, A3 segment grew strongly with 12.2%, while A1, A2 and C segment fell 32.2%, 9.7% and 17.1% respectively.
