Maruti Suzuki India posts 85.46 percent total sales growth in October 2012

Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest car manufacturer reported a growth of 85.46 percent in the total car sales for the month of October 2012 selling 1,03,108 units in comparison to 55,595 units sold in October 2011. The domestic car sales of the carmaker grew by 86.56 percent with 96,002 units sold in the month against 51,458 units sold in October 2011.

The Japanese automaker’s exports also witnessed a rise of 71.77 percent in October 2012 with sales of 7,106 units in company as compared with 4,137 units sold in the month in 2011. The total passenger car sales grew by 93.75 percent from 41,192 units in October 2011 to 79,811 units in October 2012.

While the sales in the mini car segment of the automaker including the Maruti Alto, the WagonR and the A-Star grew to 42,233 units during the month from 25,009 units sold in October 2011, the sales in the compact car segment including the Swift, the Ritz and the Estilo increased from 10,859 units sold in October 2011 to 22,459 units sold in October 2012.

The sales of the Swift DZire car model saw a three-fold increase from 5,001 units sold in October 2011 to 14,389 units in October 2012. The SX4 mid-size sedan by the company sold 695 units in the month in comparison to 320 units sold in the same month in 2011. The Kizashi luxury sedan sold 35 units in October 2012 against 3 units sold in October 2011.
