Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest car manufacturer has posted a decline of 5.5 percent in its sales for the month of March 2014. The automaker sold a total of 1,13,350 units in the month in comparison to 1,19,937 units sold in the same month in 2013.
The domestic sales of the carmaker decreased by 5.2 percent in the month of March 2014 with sales of 1,02,269 units against 1,07,890 units sold in the same month in 2013. The exports of the carmaker also declined by 8 percent with shipment of 11,081 units in March 2014 as compared with 12,047 units shipped in the same month in 2013.
The cumulative sales for the fiscal or the annual sales of the auto manufacturer in 2013-14 fell by 1.4 percent. A total of 11,55,041 units were sold by the automaker in the fiscal 2013-14 against 11,71,434 units sold in the previous fiscal 2012-13.
While the domestic sales of the carmaker saw a marginal increment of 0.3 percent selling 10,53,689 units in the 2013-14 fiscal in comparison to 10,51,046 units sold in 2012-13. The exports however declined by 15.8 percent with 101,352 units as compared with 120,388 units sold in the fiscal 2012-13.
