Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest car manufacturer is planning to expand its dealership network in smaller towns with the objective of deeper penetration into the Indian car market. Commenting about the company’s plans at the launch event for the new Alto 800 in the Uttar Pradesh region, Mr. S N Burman Vice President and Commercial Business Head (North) Maruti Suzuki India talked about the company’s plans of dealership expansion in smaller towns.
The recent launch of the Alto 800 on October 16, 2012 by the Japanese automaker has increased the company’s requirement of deeper penetration in the Indian car market for easier access of the entry level car to the potential first car buyers and customers considering cheapest possible options of four-wheelers.
The new Alto 800 is alleged to be a cross between the existing Alto and the Maruti 800 which is now gradually being phased out from the Indian car market. The car model is claimed to offer a 15 percent higher mileage than the existing Alto.
The company registered more than 10,000 bookings for the new car prior to the launch date and has high expectations from the car in the festival season in late October and November 2012.
