Maruti Suzuki India cumulative car exports cross 10,00,000

Maruti Suzuki India’s cumulative car exports have crossed the 10,00,000 figure with the 10,00,000th vehicle being a red colored A-Star which was exported to Denmark from the Mundra port. The company exports cars to various global destinations across European nations such as Switzerland, Sweden and Malta as well as to non-European countries such as Egypt, Algeria and Morocco.

Commenting on the crossing of the 10,00,000th mark in exports, Mr. Shinzo Nakanishi Managing Director and CEO Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) stated that the achievement is a significant milestone for the company and has been attained due to its ability to explore non-European markets. With the slowdown in the European auto industry in 2011, the company adapted with the change in the market conditions and pursued non-European markets, added Mr. Nakanishi.

In order to keep a diversified export profile, the company is planning to increase presence in new markets such as countries in the ASEAN region. It currently exports cars to more than 125 countries with the A-Star hatchback as its flagship export model selling 3,00,000 units followed by the Alto small car with 2,50,000 units.

Among the countries to which the company exports cars, Algeria has become the only country to have imported more than 1,00,000 cars from Maruti Suzuki India.
