India’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki has tied up with scrap dealers across India to dispose off old cars and exchange them with new cars from the Maruti stable. They are turning to 15-20-year-old cars to push new ones through this exchange.
According to Mr. Ravi Bhatia – Maruti Suzuki India Chief General Manager (Sales Support), Maruti has already tied up with 15-20 scrap dealers. He also said that this move helped the company in pushing sales significantly through the pre owned car business – TrueValue. Their acceptance of 15-20 year old cars have resulted exchange going up from 12 per cent to 20 per cent and Alto has been the replacement model.
