Maruti Suzuki Ertiga posts 11,000 bookings in 5 days

Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest car manufacturer has reported more than 11,000 bookings for its new multi-utility vehicle (MUV) Ertiga in the first 5 days of its launch. Termed by the company as a life utility vehicle (LUV), the new car model is the company’s first venture in the MUV/MPV segment. Moreover, the Ertiga lies in the compact MUV segment which prior to the launch of Ertiga by Maruti Suzuki was non-existent in India.

According to Mr. Shashank Srivastava Chief General Manager (Marketing) Maruti Suzuki India, the company at the time of launch targeted sales of 5,000 units for the Ertiga. He added that the company flexible in terms of increasing production to meet the demand for the new car.

Mr. Srivastava attributed the demand of the Ertiga to its differential pricing model referring to the entry level price of the car at Rs 5,89,000 and the top end diesel version of the car priced at Rs 8,45,000 (Ex-showroom Delhi). In comparison, other MUV/MPVs in the segment such as the Toyota Innova and the Mahindra Xylo are priced around Rs 8,00,000 – Rs 14,00,000.
