Maruti cars to cost up to Rs. 10,000 more

Owing to higher input costs and appreciation of Japanese yen, Maruti Suzuki India has announced its diesel cars would cost up to Rs. 10,000 more with effect from November 14, 2011.

The company reportedly informed its dealers through mail about the new revised prices, and diesel versions of the Ritz and the Swift along with the DZiRE and the SX4 would cost between Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 10,000 more.

Confirming the development, a company official stated that the company had raised the prices of all its diesel cars and also stated the reason for doing so in its mail sent out to the dealers. Appreciation of yen has pushed up the cost of import of components from Japan. While the cost of the Ritz diesel has gone up by Rs. 2,000, the cost of the Swift, the SX4 and the DZiRE has gone up by Rs. 10,000 each. Thus, prior to the price hike, the diesel version of the Ritz fell in the price window of Rs. 4,93,000 and Rs. 5,29,000, the Swift was priced between Rs. 5,17,000 and Rs. 6,38,000, the DZiRE was priced between Rs. 5,86,00 and Rs. 7,20,000 and the SX4 fell in the price range of Rs. 7,79,000 to Rs. 9,01,000.
