Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., a part of the US $ 12.5 billion Mahindra Group, will launch the new Mahindra XUV 500 on September 28th, 2011 in Pune. The Mahindra XUV 500 which is developed in-house is Mahindra’s first global SUV platform. The new SUV’s design has received inputs from customers around the world.
The company after announcing the price and talking about the strategy and technology used in the vehicle will unveil the XUV 500 on September 29th, 2011. Visit to the manufacturing factory at Chakan where the SUV is being manufactured and test drives of the SUV will follow the unveiling. The XUV 500 has been developed by M&M’s research and development centre in Chennai and is expected to be bigger than the Scorpio project in respect to product development costs, scope and scale.
The XUV 500 will be India’s first indigenously developed monocoque SUV with the first transverse engine offering from Mahindra. The research and development activities for the SUV were in sync with global standards of quality, technology, testing norms, regulations and emissions.
