Mahindra developing efficient hybrid technology for manual transmission

Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), the Indian SUV manufacturer is reportedly developing a hybrid technology for manual transmission to be deployed across its range of car models for better fuel efficiency.

According to claims by the carmaker, the new hybrid technology being developed is capable of being deployed for manual transmission unlike the existing deployment with automatic transmission only. The fuel efficiency using this new technology can be improved by a margin of almost 20 percent.

Mahindra already owns the micro-hybrid technology and has used it across its car models in India. The new hybrid technology is said to be the next level of sustainable mobility for the Indian carmaker.

Mr. Rajan Wadhera Chief Executive of Technology and Product Development M&M stated that the automaker is currently working in collaboration with Samsung SDI for the development and supply of lithium ion batteries for its car models to improve the existing micro-hybrid technology to come up with more fuel efficient car products. This technology will be deployed across all car platforms of the carmaker.
