Mahindra and Mahindra planning solar charging stations

Indian car manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra is considering setting up the necessary infrastructure for running the electric cars in India which will entail the establishment of solar-powered charging stations. The company is currently working on the Reva electric car that would run on clean energy. According to Mr. Anand Mahindra Vice-Chairman Mahindra Group, the company will be the first one to commission solar power projects under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM).

He added that since electric cars are the future of automobiles, India must have the requisite infrastructure of fueling station that car sustain the electric cars. The company plans to generate 100MW of solar energy by the year 2014. The government policies are favorable to the establishment of such solar plants, stated Mr. Mahindra.
