Jaguar Land Rover India, the Indian arm of the Tata owned British luxury brand Jaguar Land Rover has announced that it will be initiating the local manufacturing of the XJ luxury saloon in India at its Pune facility. The XJ car model will follow in the footsteps of the Land Rover Freelander 2 in 2011 and the Jaguar XF.
The production of the XJ model will include the production of the 2.0 liter petrol and 3.0 liter diesel variants. Commenting on the luxury carmaker’s decision to produce the XJ locally, Mr. Rohit Suri Vice President Jaguar Land Rover India stated that the carmaker will commence the local production of the luxury saloon by mid 2014.
Dr. Ralf Speth CEO Jaguar Land Rover stated that the Indian car market is a dynamic market for the carmaker as it aims to enhance its dealership network by 25 percent in the year 2014.
Jaguar Land Rover India has posted a sales growth of 22 percent in the year 2013 selling a total of 2,913 units.
