Jaguar Land Rover to increase focus on Indian auto market

Jaguar Land Rover India, the Indian arm of the British luxury car brand owned by Indian automaker Tata Motors has announced that it will now be increasing its focus on the Indian car market. The luxury carmaker will be launching its entire portfolio of car models in India.

In his statement regarding the move, Mr. Ralf Speth CEO Jaguar Land Rover stated that all the car models available across the globe will now be made available in the Indian market as well. At the recent Delhi Auto Expo 2014 held in February 2014, the carmaker for the first time showcased 4 new car models in India.

The automaker has plans to launch the new Defender sports utility vehicle in the global market in the year 2015 and it is expected to get an India launch at the same time. The luxury carmaker will also introduce car models in the high volume premium car segment to compete with the likes of Audi, BMW and Mercedes Benz, the current leaders in the segment.

The carmaker also stated that it has been launching a car every 12 months in India and plans to increase the frequency of new car launches to every six months.
