India’s Maruti A-Star to be sold as Nissan Pixo and Suzuki Alto

India’s biggest car maker, Maruti Suzuki will roll out A-Star shortly. This new car from Maruti will be sold under three different brands across the globe. This will be the first time that a car made in India shall have three different model names globally.

Maruti A Star shall be manufactured in India solely and shall carry its name in the Indian market. While the same car will be contract manufactured by Maruti for Nissan and will be resold model in certain markets Pixo and the parent company Suzuki shall sell the same model internationally as Suzuki Alto.

The new A-Star model shall be pitted against Toyota Aygo in the international market. Maruti hopes to boost its exports figures with the launch of its new model.
Suzuki plans to sell 3 million units globally out of which 30 percent is contributed by Maruti Suzuki. A-Star shall contribute selling 1 lakh to the global sales figure.

Maruti has already made its plans to launch two models every year in the country and expand its product portfolio. Maruti and Suzuki already have their plan underway for investing Rs 9000 crores for expansion of their current manufacturing facility and infrastructure.
